George Raphael Temba is an economist specializing in agriculture, health economics, and econometrics. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Dar es Salaam, under the guidance of Dr. Innocent Pantaleo and Prof. Deograsias Mushi, Temba’s research focuses on health insurance. His academic journey includes a master’s degree in economics from the same university, where he investigated the determinants of diarrhoeal morbidity among Tanzanian children. Prior to this, he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ardhi University, with a concentration in economic analysis and a minor in agriculture economics, reflecting his early interest in agricultural dynamics.
Temba’s professional experience includes impactful roles such as Project Manager at the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) and Research Analyst at Talanta International Ltd. Notable projects he spearheaded at ESRF include initiatives funded by IDRC and ESRC, addressing critical issues such as healthy diets, industrialization in agriculture, and the impacts of taxation on obesity prevalence. His expertise in econometrics and statistical analysis is complemented by his contributions to publications like “Determinants of Soil Conservation Technologies among Small-Scale Farmers in Tanzania” and “Socioeconomic Determinants of Diarrhoeal Morbidity among Children in Tanzania.” Through active engagement in professional societies and conferences, Temba remains dedicated to driving socioeconomic advancements and fostering impactful research in Tanzania and beyond.
