
Dr. Mugisha Rweyemamu
Research Fellow
Dr. Mugisha Rweyunga Rweyemamu is a Senior Research Fellow at the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) in Tanzania. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam, with a specialization in the areas of Econometrics, Development Economics, and Industrial and Production Economics. He has done several research studies in areas of Macroeconomics, Agriculture, Econometrics, and the Manufacturing Sector. His research interests include Economic Growth and Manufacturing Exports, Macroeconomic Modelling, Economic and Social Development, Industrial Development, and Econometric Research. He has contributed to writing and coordinating various projects. Currently, he has contributed to Write and Win Scaling Care Innovations in Africa Project, funded by the IDRC, and the Performance Evaluation of Strategic Public and Statutory Corporations: Agriculture and Agricultural Research Project, funded by the Office of the Treasurer Registrar of the United Republic of Tanzania. In addition, he is a Coordinator of Food System Transformation for Health in the Southern Africa Project, funded by the EU, from the Strategic Research and Publication Department. He also coordinates the Researchers on Wednesday (ROW) Program at ESRF, a platform that, since 2024, has brought together researchers from within and outside the institution to present and discuss research findings, publications, methodological innovations, newly developed software, ongoing projects, and other scholarly works. Before his current role at ESRF, he worked for 12 years as an Assistant Lecturer at St. Augustine University of Tanzania, where he taught Econometrics, Industrial Economics, and Microeconomics also held several coordinating positions including External Affairs Coordinator in Economics Department; Team Leader, Strengthening St. Augustine University and University of Dar es Salaam MoU; Assistant Team Leader Tracer Study Preparation Committee; and Assistant Team Leader PhD Launching Preparation Committee.
