Title: Research Assistant

Mr. Marco Kitundu is a holder of a Master Degree in International Relations from the Freie Universität Berlin, German. His master thesis is titled “Political Transitions and the Development of a Civil Society”, specifically his thesis focused on answering the research question “Why do some states develop a strong civil society after transition to democracy, while others do not?”

Mr. Marco joined the Economic and social research foundation (ESRF) in July 2023, and he currently serves as a research assistant at the Impact Evaluation Lab under the Governance and Capacity Development Department at the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF). He is currently leading the implementation of the Afya Yako Project which is being funded by the Social Science Research Council (SSRC). Mr. Marco also led the implementation of the project titled “Digital Media and Civic Knowledge: Evidence from an Electronic Newspaper Distribution Experiment”, funded by JPAL and implemented by the Economic and Social Research Foundation in partnership with Smart Foundry, the Tanzania-based developer of the digital newsstand app M-Paper.
