Name: Ms. Vivian Kazi

Title: HEAD OF STRATEGIC RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS

Ms. Vivian Kazi is currently a Senior Researcher and the Head of the Strategic Research and Publications Department at ESRF. She has been with ESRF for over 15 years, gaining experience in policy formulation, review and evaluation, research baseline surveys, and studies in the agriculture sector value chain, gender, education, microfinance, private sector, trade, and evaluation studies.

Ms. Kazi has served on various government and non-government task forces, committees, and boards. She is currently the Vice Chair and a member of the Board of the Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI), Vice Chair and a member of the Industrial Advisory Committee of the Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre (EASTC), and a member of the task force on “Improving Business Environment” in Tanzania by BRELA. Additionally, she is the Tanzania Node Coordinator for the Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN), hosted by ESRF in Tanzania.

Recently, Ms. Kazi participated as a team member for the Ministry of Finance’s commissioned work on the “Evaluation of the Implementation of the Tanzania Development Vision 2025.” She is also among the joint researchers with the China Agricultural University in Beijing (2024-2025). Ms. Kazi has published a number of academic papers, the recent one was published by Nature available at https://doi.org/10.1038/s43016-023-00901-y.

Ms. Kazi holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) and a Bachelor in Statistics (Hons), both from the University of Dar es Salaam. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Policy and Poverty Analysis offered by the ISS (Netherlands) in collaboration with ESRF and REPOA.
