The seminar will focus on two studies:

  • Demographic Transition in Africa: Education, Income or Infant Mortality?.This study is derived from an ongoing project that is testing the demographic transition proposition of the unified growth theory using population census data across several countries in Africa; and
  • Night light and Regional Income Inequality in Africa. This study focuses on using night light in the absence of traditional income data to estimate regional income inequality in Africa.

The seminar will be facilitated by Mr. Anthony Francis Mveyange, a PhD candidate in the Department of Business and Economics at the University of Southern Denmark, in Denmark. Mr. Mveyange has an extensive experience in research, teaching and policy analysis in the fields of Development Economics, Macroeconomics & Economic Growth, Inequality and Poverty analysis.
