National Policy Dialogue on Domestic Climate financing.

    the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) in collaboration with the FANRPAN Regional Secretariat convened a National Policy Dialogue on Domestic Climate Financing on Tuesday 4th August 2015 in Dar es Salaam

    The objective of the National Policy Dialogue was to facilitate and influence a unified position on agriculture and domestic climate financing among key stakeholders including decision makers.

    Prof Pius Yanda the Chair holder of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Professorial Chair in environment and Climate Change of the University of Dar es Salaam presented findings of a study commissioned by the Overseas Development Institution (ODI) on disbursements of international climate finance to Tanzania.

    The study found that approximately 200 million US dollars each year was reported by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Creditor Reporting System database as being disbursed to recipients in Tanzania in support of climate change actions between 2010 and 2013.

    Speaking at the national dialogue, the executive Director of ESRF, Dr Tausi Kida said the climate Smart Agricultural (CSA) approach proposes the transformation of agricultural policies and agricultural systems to increase food productivity and enhance food security while preserving the environment and ensuring resilience to a changing climate.
