ESRF and French Embassy organizes a Joint Workshop on Professional Training.

    On June 29th, 2016 the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) in collaboration with the Economic Department of the French Embassy to Tanzania jointly organized a workshop on Professional Training “Addressing skills: challenges for Tanzania development Sharing the practices of the private sector and the expertise of the French professional training Agency (AFPA)”

    The Workshop was held at the Economic and Social Research Foundation Auditorium and officiated by Dr Reginald Mengi, the Chairman of Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF). In presence were; Mr. Ally Msaki, Director of Employment, Prime Minister's Office - Labour, Youth, Employment and Disability representing Mr. Erick Shitindi, Permanent Secretary Prime Minister's Office responsible for Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, Youth and the

    Disabled, Her Excellence Mrs. Malika Berak, Ambassador of France in Tanzania, Dr. Tonia Kandiero, Resident Representative of African Development Bank in Tanzania and Dr. Tausi Kida Executive Director ESRF.

    The joint workshop aimed at helping the better understanding of the issues in building professional skills needed for industrialization and development of Tanzania, also assisting in exploring the opportunities for the government and development partners to build more links with private sector in order to get more flexibility and adapt to the demand of skills needed.

    The workshop attracted more than 80 stakeholders from public and private sectors involved in capacity and skill issues, representatives from different Ministries, representatives for Development Partners and the Media.

    The findings garnered from the workshop will be used to draft a joint policy paper as a contribution to strengthen a structural approach of capacity building giving more room to the private sector.
