Name: Ms. Vivian Kazi

Title: HEAD OF STRATEGIC RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS

Ms. Vivian Kazi is a Senior Researcher at ESRF and Head of the Strategic and Publications Research Department. Before joining ESRF, she worked as a consultant for the Ernst & Young International Auditing Company. Being a researcher for more than 15 years, Ms. Kazi has knowledge on research methods, planning and management with extensive experience and vast range of knowledge and skills in undertaking trade related studies, socio-economic studies, policy reviews, poverty analysis, project evaluation and case studies in agriculture, private sector development and finance and national strategy reviews and formulation. She has managed several Government and donor related projects including MNRT work on the review of tourism policy and MOA work on the review of Microfinance Policy.

She has also managed AGRA funded projects such as Strengthening Food Security and Export Trade in Tanzania (SFSETT–I, 2019), Scaling Seeds and Technologies Partnership (SSTP) Program, Farmer Survey Tool Adapted For Wave 1&2 (2018) and Economic impact Assessment services for Agribusiness Reforms in Tanzania in 2017. Other projects that she has participated include BMGF funded project on identifying and prioritizing policies for engaging African smallholder farmers in agricultural trade with Peking University from China (2019) and GCRF funded project on Agriculture and Food System: Increasing Capacity and Advising Policy (AFRICAP) for 2018-2021 in which Food Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) and the University of Leeds are the core collaborators. She has also done projects funded by the Government including the Developing M&E framework for the roadmap and the blueprint to improve business environment and investment climate in Tanzania (2019), Review of Tanzania Development Vision 2025 in 2010, Agriculture sector development programme II (ASDP II) in 2013, Review of the Agriculture Sector development Strategy (ASDS) in 2013.

Ms. Kazi is the currently ESRF Node coordinator for FANRPAN representing Tanzania Node. Ms. Kazi holds a Master’s in Business Administration in 2003 (MBA) and BA Statistics (Hons) in 2001 both from the University of Dar es Salaam. She also holds Post Graduate Diploma in Poverty Analysis from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Netherlands in 2008.
